₊⊹ Olruggio of the torch ⊹₊
Who is he?
Olruggio is a witch specialized in fire magic from the anime/manga witch hat atelier and works as a watchful eye in his best friend's atelier and he says he's not a professor but this man cares for Qifrey's students a lot and does in fact teach them, just don't tell him that bc he's all tsundere about every nice thing he does. He also makes magical contraptions and commissions but he tends to procrastinate a lot and ends up having to skip meals and sleep to make it to the deadline. He's a very tired but very caring man that has built an entire career around creating spells that make other people happy, he embodies the best parts about fire!!!! He's all warm and kind and wants to bring comfort to those around him and yet he tries to act all nonchalant about it istg.

Because he's my favorite character, obviously. Not only in wha but like, in a lot of media in general. I've had my lil obsessions
but Olruggio is the one I always come back and never disappoints no matter how many times I reread wha. I can't even tell when
that happened, one day i was like 'oh he's kinda sweet' and by the time I noticed I was already too deep in my obsession with him.
And Qifrey because of course I was.
Anyways, there's just something about Olruggio that makes me go insane.
He's a boyfailure, he's a workaholic AND a chronic procrastinator at the same time, his boy best friend has referred to him as 'the sky's kindest, brightest star.'
and he's also a fucking celebrity in universe bc he was a prodigy as a child and bc he's a such skilled witch.
He's also a functional alcoholic and tbh
if I had to deal with Qifrey's situation for 20 years I would be drinking too, and fun fact:
he has and will lie to the police to cover for Qifrey even though his job is literally to do the opposite thing, he's THE ride or die.
(also I'm pretty sure that he's Qifrey's watchful eye bc of Beldaruit's influence so he's a nepo baby too. But that's js a theory)
Speaking of Qifrey, Olruggio is lowkey obseessed with him ngl. Like, in one of the novels bro literally didn't see him for abt
a day or two and decided to go asking everywhere for him, literally everybody told him that Qifrey was fine and probably on a
trip or smth but Olruggio was like 'NO WHAT IF
SMTH HAPPENED TO HIM' and climbed up a fucking mountain in the middle of winter to go find him and guess what? Qifrey was fine, and when
he asked Olruggio if he was worried abt him this mf had the audacity to say no. He cares so much but he tries to deny it all the time and nobody buys
it because duh. Atp he's embarassing himself. Btw there are some insane spoilers for ch.93 below so if you're not there yet I recommend you come
back to read that part later.
Also have I mentioned that he is loyal to the point where he's a danger to himself? and of course he has a savior complex, how did you know?

I love him so much, he's truly one of the characters ever.

His inventions (as shown so far)
1. Link rings
A pair of rings that each make half of a spell, together they can dry basically anything, very practical for rainy days! I don't think if it's been said when this spell was published in universe but we know that he made it when he was an apprentice. As shown in the ch.89 of the manga.
2. The glowstone path
Path that lights up when you walk, it was published when he was still an apprentice, and it's the spell that made Coco fall in love with magic.
Snugstone
Basically a stone that produces enough heat to warm you up but not to burn, he made it with the purpose of
helping Qifrey and his apprentices sleep better, sounds pretty cozy, I know that I would love one of these on a cold night.
One fun fact is that when we only had the manga we
all thought that it would be like orange or a warm color but then the anime came and OMG IS THAT THE COLOR OF QIFREY'S EYE??
Imagine creating a spell to bring warmth and comfort and deciding to give it the color of your best friend's eye.

3. Searneedle wand
Basically like a pen that heats up the ink and lets you draw on things that a normal one couldn't, like rocks or metal.
4. Phantasmall fireball
A fireball that can't produce heat so it doesn't burn you or spread the fire, making it pretty safe to use as a lightsource, however since it looks just like a normal pyreball Olly was worried that kids would think that the real thing was harmless so he changed it a little bit.
5. Crystal torch
A phantasmal fireball inside a crystal. Even if the crystal breaks it is completely safe, however it's there to give the idea that fire can and will hurt you. it comes in two presentations: as a torch and as a little rock.
